The reading states that, the current variety of species that exist on Earth must be preserved but this safeguarding of endangered species is unnatural and also poses many drawbacks. On the other hand, professor refuses the reading and provides his own opinion on that. In addition, he also states three reasons for his each point that poses by him.

First the passage state that, the sudden destruction of biodiversity did not result in lasting harm to life on earth, the well-known example is dinosaur. The professor refutes this point by saying that after losing the dinosaur there was sudden changes on the earth surface and the loss of one species also fear for all other on time of swift in earth surface.

Second, the article posits that, the advance technology such as genetic engineering scientist no longer depends on nature as a source of medication. In addition reading states that, the natural lose of species to extinction will not harm the progress of medicine. On the other side, professor refuses this point by saying that still today 40% of medication depends on plants and we are losing 100 species everyday that affects the production of medicine.

Finally, the reading says that, the huge cost of saving the species from extinction is often not justified and provide example of condor. The professor opposes the point by explaining that, there are more than 10,000 jobs are depends on species today and the remaining species are associates with the financial advantages.
