The reading claims that nowadays, people pay less heed to literature and this has a detrimental effect on the future of literature itself. However, the lecturer casts doubts on this ideas and provides some points to refute them all.
First the author argues that by reading less literature people lose lots of benefits. In contrast, the lecture casts doubt on this idea by stating that although people read less literature, they read lots of other books which help them to boost their imagination. These prominent books can paves people`s way to broaden their perspective and improve their knowledge too, and it is unfair to say that just literature books can do such a things.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that instead of reading books people squander their time on watching television programs and listening to the different kinds of music. Conversely, the lecturer underlines the fact that such programs are beneficial way for exchanging cultures and expressing different ideas. Therefore, it is fallacious conclusion to consider them as an ineffective cultural means.
Finally, the reading asserts that reading less amount of literature is occurred at the time when the best literature books is being published. On the contrary, the lecturer dismisses this issue due to the fact that people support these kinds of books less and less, just because of the authors` faults. She states that these books are really hard for people to read, and as a result, they pay less attention to these kinds of books and prefer to spend their time on the other subjects.
