TPO-22 - Integrated Writing Task Ethanol fuel, made from plants such as corn and sugar cane, has been advocated by some people as an alternative to gasoline in the United States. However, many critics argue that ethanol is not a good replacement for gasol

The passage states that ethanol fuel are not suitable alternative for gasoline and provides three reason of support. The professor, however, states that reason provided by the author are not compelling and refutes each of the author reason.

First, the article asserts that ethanol fuel does not help to subdue global warming problem. The professor refutes it by saying that it growing plants for ethanol fuel aids for reducing global warming problem. He claims that while growing plants for processing it as fuel, it takes carbon dioxide as nutrient from the atmosphere; thus, it helps in reduction of carbon dioxide.

Second, the passage posits that ethanol fuel may reduce the food and fodder of domestic animals. However, the professor argues that it will not cause any scarcity of food. According to professor, the ethanol fuel is made from cellulose part of plants, which are not eaten by animals. So, using only cellulose part for production will not affects on food resources.

Third, the article maintains that cost of ethanol will not be as cheaper as gasoline. The professor confutes it by explaining that huge production of it will reduce the per unit cost of gasoline. Further, we knew that it the production of ethanol is tripled of it's recent production, then the price will drop by 40 percent.
