TPO-24 - Integrated Writing Task Animal fossils usually provide very little opportunity to study the actual animal tissues, because in fossils the animals' living tissues have been largely replaced by minerals. Thus, scientists were very excited recently

Reading and lecture is about the authenticity of blood vessels, red blood cells and
collagen matrix. Reading asserts that these evidences suggest that original tissue of
dinosaurs. While, lecture thinks that points made in reading are not convincing to come to that
conclusion; he gave following reasons for his opinion:

First, reading implies that when fossils of T rex were examined researchers found out
small branching hollow channels and they contain small organic substance. Therefore, reading evidenced
that might be remnants of old blood cells. In contrast, lecture suggests that organic matter in and moisture
in the bones might be due to bacterial reaction. As a consequence, he witnessed that there is no possibility for residual
blood vessels in the fossil.

Second, reading states that researchers also discovered spheres which is analogous to red blood cells.
In addition, iron content present in those fossil strengthen that possibility. In contrary, lecture thinks that those
spheres might be just reddish cells because many primitive animals lack red blood cells. As a result, the argument
about the red blood cells can not be true.

Third, reading claims that fossils contained collagen matrix in the leg bone, that solidify the statement that might be remains of T rex bone. However, lecture argues this statement made in reading, he affirms that collagen would remain active for about hundred years. In contradiction, these fossils were around 700 million years old, so that might not be collagen of T rex bone. Instead, professor put forth that scientists might shed their skin, when analyzing the fossils in that reagion and that might be the possible source of collagen. Thus, professor casts doubt on the statement made in the lecture.
