TPO-31 - Integrated Writing Task A fossil skeleton of a dinosaur called Sinosauropteryx, preserved in volcanic ash, was discovered in Liaoning, China, in 1996. Interestingly, the fossil included a pattern of fine lines surrounding the skeletal bones. Some

The author discusses three arguments that counteract the fact that the dinosaur called Sinosauropteryx is a feathered dinosaur, the fossil of this dinosaur founded in China. The professor mentions that the evidence of lines that present in the fossil record is powerful. Furthermore, the debates are not persuasive.

First, the reading passage avers that these lines are not functional structure, but they are only skin remains buried under ashes. The professor casts doubt on this point by explaining that we do not see like that before in the same location as the dinosaur fossil.

Second, the article argues that if the lines are real, they just frill not feather. The speaker points out this point by saying there is a serious chemical composition difference between the feather and frill. Moreover, the difference is the presence of B-carotene in the feather only. And the analysis has proven that the fossil contains this material.

Third, the reading passage critics that the function of the feather is strong evidence that these lines are the frill. The professor counteracts that by telling that there is another function of the feather which is used for attracting the mate. And the fossil record considered the presence of Orange and white color that means the record supports the idea of drawing function of the feather-like in some bird.
