There has been some debates among  where the angostides were living in the past . The reading provides three different theories about where they were living in the past. The lecture refutes, saying that each of the theories mentioned in the reading has some weakens.

The first area of dispute is the ability of the agnostides to live as free swimming predator. The lecturer contends that free swimming predators should have large developed eye and special sensory organs in their bodies to help them catch the prey, however the angistoids  were lacking these characteristics. On the other hand, the reading opposes this point stating that they were strong predators and active swimmers.

Another controversial issue that the agntoids were dwellers of the sea flower. The professor says that the dwellers of the sea flower were moving slowly. They were localized in one area. However, angistoids  were moving too fast. According to their fossils they were localized in different places. But, the passage contradicts this point saying that they were living as dweller of the sea flower and scavenging dead organism and grazing bacteria.

The final point of dispute is that agnostide were parasites living on large organisms. The lecture claims that the parasite's population should be small or they will harm their hosts.  According to the fossils of angostide there population were very large and that contradict the theory of parasites. yet, the author of the reading refutes this point and saying that many anthropoids that are living those days are parasite, which reflect that agnosite were parasite as well.
