TPO 44-integrated

In the reading, The author provides three reasons of support for the claim that a European silver coin which explored at Maine of United State is not the original historical evidence. However, finding all the ideas questionable and implausible, the lecturer asserts that the coin is original. It brought by a European explorer whose name was Norse, to the America, so she casts doubt on each of the author reasons.

First, the passage of the reading declares that the distance between the place that Norse lived in, eastern Canada, and Maine in United State was too long so that the coin was not brought by him to the North America. Conversely, the lecturer posits that beside the coin other historical objects were discovered at Maine because the people of this area traveled to far away places. During their travel, they were interested in bringing other historical objects with themselves. Therefore, They would reach the North settlements and bring back the coin to the Maine.

Furthermore, the reading holds the view that there were not other coins in the settlement of Norse at the Canada. However, the speaker rebuts this point by explaining that Norse did have permanent dwelling in the North America. According to some points, when he traveled to the North America, he packed up all of his possession such as valuable things as well as coins. Therefore, when he turned to the Europe, he took them back.

Finally, the author mentions that silver coins which brought by Norse were useless for native Americans. On the contrary, the teacher disagrees with this claim. She states that Norse knew that these coins in attractive and beautiful for the Americans since they utilized them as necklace or jewelry. Consequently, Norse found these coins astonishing and brought them with himself.
