Working in four days a week.
The reading passage states benefits about four days work in week and how it could be effect on company profit, society and people life. Nevertheless, lecture have strike contrast about benefits of working in four days a week. Also, lecture stated that it could lead to worse situation both people life and company, even in society. There are three reasons why lecturer contrasted with reading passage.
First of all, reading passage stated that working four days of week will increase company profit due to more energized and more rested employee who work more efficient in four days a week. However, lecturer disagree with statement that by letting employee work four days company will require more employee which will require more office space and more money in their salary. Furthermore this issue will cut company profit.
Secondly, passage mentioned that four days work will decrease unemployment and overtime work which giving idea that company will spend less money on overtime salary. Even though, lecturer dismissed the idea that company will hire more suitable person to make up difference. This could lead to company expect employee to finish five days task in four days.
Lastly, passage believes that four days work bring employee more time with their family and improving their life. However, lecturer refutes this point that this life habit could harm their chance of career. For example they could lose their job.
In conclusion the lecturer strongly disagree with the statement that four days work would not bring any opportunities both company and employee.
