Summarize the information by selecting and reporting in the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The line graph provides information about the number of single-family houses built in different regions the United States in a six-year period. As we can see from the graph, there was significant difference among the number of houses in each region. Furthermore, the South always witnessed the biggest number of houses, while the number of houses in the Northeast was always lowest.

According to the graph, the biggest number of houses were built in the South during a period of six years. At the beginning of the period, 900000 houses were constructed, however, the number of homes abruptly surged in 2008 and after 2 years, it reduced by 1/3 to just 300000 houses. That was the lowest number of single-family houses comparing to that in the other years, but it was still the highest number of all the regions. On the contrary, the region which has the fewest houses built in all years is the Northeast. Only under 20000 houses were built in 2009 and the number gradually decreased to under 100000 houses in 2012.

Clearly, the most construction was built in 2006 in all regions, and the numbers decreased steadily until 2010. However, the most regions have an increasing number of homes, except for the Northeast, which had seen a decrease in the number of homes and thereafter the number seemed to continue to drop.
