Some people think that more money should be spent to promote the use of bicycles in cities. Others, however, believe that cities should focus on investing in public transport systems.
Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
People have different vies about how best to improve transportation in cities. While better provision for cyclists could be a good measure, I believe that further investment should be considered for improvement of public transport.
On the one hand, there are several reasons why some people believe that more money should be allocated to encourage the use of bicycles in cities. Firstly, these people believe that bicycles are an environmentally friendly form of transport. While motorized vehicles produce toxic gases, bicycles have no emissions. Secondly, bicycles take up far less space on public roads, which can help the traffic flow. Finally, this type of transport not only lets people have enough mobility and do exercise but also helps them reduce their stress and relax.
Despite the positive points mentioned above, I believe that more money should spent on public transport. In my experience, not everyone is able to ride a bicycle, for example it is impossible for disabled and elderly people to learn how to control bicycle on the streets. Also, public transport can be more useful in reduction of traffic, as bus, metro and taxi can carry more people at once compered to bicycle. As result, it would be better for governments to use the state budget for proving a condition in which the fuel of public transport is supply by renewable energies. Additionally, for long distances, using public transport is more convenient than cycling, which can be time consuming and exhausting, especially in bad weather conditions.
I conclusion, I hope cities will become more bicycle-friendly in the future, but spending money on public transportation should in priority.
