"The best way for a society to prepare its young people for leadership in government, industry, or other fields is by instilling in them a sense of cooperation, not competition."
The speaker correctly states that instilling a sense of cooperation is the best way to prepare young ones for leadershp in any mentioned fields as supported by the examples and reasons below.
Imbibing in them the sense of cooperation is full of positives. Firstly, not having pressure of competition will nurture their developement to the right direction. Instead of constantly thinking to perform better than others, young ones will think of the group's benefit first. For example, a employee will work best when given a task and given full autonomy than constantly staring at him, requiring status after every day. Even a student will be better off when given freedom in his project of interest.
Secondly, cooperation will bring respect for the social values and thus improving the group as a whole. Since one should think everybody in the group while taking any decision, it will give them the feeling of responsibility which is needed when young ones grow up and work in a real world out of their comfort zone.
Lastly, leader has to be the decision-taker. But while taking decisions, he can not simply disregard the opinions of the public. The leader should go with the aggrement of the public opinions. He should think of old ones, young ones, rich, poor, employers, businessmen, students, etc which constitute our society.
In sum, to be a great leader, the leader should have some good qualities. Having the sense of cooperation is one of them. By instilling these qualities in soon-to-be leaders, it will definitely benefit the young ones to become a great leader and thus progress of the society as a whole.
