As we all know, that Salicylates are the members of same chemical family as aspirin,which is used to treat headaches,and are very important for our body as a supplement. Here, author is saying that food-processing companies are adding salicylates to foods as a preservative. And claims that, This rise in the commercial use of salicylates has been found to correlate with a steady decline in the average number of headaches reported by participants in our twenty-year study. Which means that, author wants to say that the excess of salicylate is beneficiary for human being. But author is fail to give the reasonable data to proof his statement.

Firstly, Author is relating the commercial use of salicylates with a report which shows a decline in the average number of headaches reports. But how much that report is reliable, he did not present any data about the report. And these health issues can be judge by only a doctor not by a survey. So the accountability of this report is suspicious.

And, if there is a decline in headaches reports, then there is no evidence which can prove the relation between the commercial use of salicylates and the decline in headaches reports. There can be many reasons for that, such as now people are more aware about their health issues. They are very particular about their diet,exercise and other activities.Which are useful to live a healthy life. So, it is clueless to say that the excess consumption of salicylates is good for health.

The next thing is that, author did not present any data of salicylates consumption by the participants, so one can judge that how much consumption of salycilates is beneficial for a human being. May be the reduction in the amount of salycilates gave relief for some patients.

Now, according to the author, the food-processing companies are going to use salicylates as flavor. But the excess consumption of any thing is always harmful. It is generate my disorders in human body, like- gastrointestinal ulcer, dizzyness, feeling of flu and all.

So, in the end, I want to conclude that the excess of salicylates is not good for human being.
