The graphs shows US household spending patterns in 1966 and 1996.
The pie charts compare the average expenditure of American household in the year 1966 and 1996.
A glance at the chart shows that, great shifts were seen on the amount of spending over the three decades. In the year 1966, around half of the house income (44%) was spent on food items; however by 1996 this amount reduced to less than a fifth portion (14%). On the contrary the outflow on cars was less than a quarter (23%) of the total wages in the year 1966; this grew by 100% (46%) in the year 1996.Similarly, dining out also increased twofold from 7% in 1966 to 14% in 1996.
Moreover, in the year 1966,1% of the earning was disbursed for computers and 6% for books. However, with the increased use of computers (10% of total wage) spending on books decreased considerably (1% of total income). Petrol and furniture showed a slight decrease over the 30 years.
To sum up, while the expense on cars, restaurant and computers increased that on food, books, furniture and petrol decreased.
Good job!
