Some people think that the government should pay one of the parents of very young children to stay at home to look after their children.
What do you think would be the advantages and disadvantages of this policy?
Undoubtedly, every creature in this world would like to spend most of their time with their young ones with humans as no exception. At present, I believe only a few fortunate ones are able to do it, due to the burden of earning livelihood. All this, has sparked a debate that the government should pay one of the parents to stay at home and it does have its own merits and demerits.
Firstly, if this happens, it will be of a great relief for the parents on economic issues. As it is said, parents are the first teachers, so they can teach their young ones, the important lessons of their life. It is scientifically proved that humans’ build their personality in first few years and I don’t see anyone who can do it better than parents. It will also give them a chance to wrap up all those memories that will bring smile on their face till eternity.
There are two side of coin that make some people believe that if government started paying one of the parents, it will give them a chance to sit back and relax. They also raise their concern, that how that money is going to be used? As in the recent past, there are enormous examples, where people have misused such policies. To exemplify, similar previous scheme of helping families with more than 4 children has been withdrawn, as a result of misuse, as people tend to spend it on their own luxury.
In the end, I would say, parents do deserve a chance to spend extra time with their newborn and government should help them as these little ones are the future and pride of the country.
