The table below shows statistics about the top five countries for international tourism in
2012 and 2013.
The table compares the number of tourists and the amount of money spent by them in five most popular countries in the years 2012 and 2013.
It is clear that France was the most popular country in the world over a period of two years. However, The US earned by far the highest amount of revenue from tourists over the same period.
In 2012, 83 million people visited France, and the USA was the second most popular destination, with 66.7 million tourists. Spain and China had the similar numbers of visitors, with 57.5 million and 57.7 million people, in the same year, respectively. In the meantime, Italy received relatively low number of travellers, with 46.4 million. 2013 saw an upward trend in the number of tourists, between 1 and 3 millions, in each country, with the exception of China, which lost 1.3 million tourists compared to the precious year.
The USA made the remarkable amount of profits in comparison to any other country, rising from $126.2 billion in 2012 to $139.6 billion in 2013. The amounts of spending by tourists in all the remaining countries increased between $1 billion and $4 billion over the same period. Remarkably, China saw a rise in tourism revenue, in spite of the fall in number of visits by tourists in 2012.
