To begin with, in the year 1918, only 23% households had an owned accommodation, which increased by almost 10% in 1939, while the percentage of citizens who lived in rented property was almost 80% in 1918, which decreased to 68% after 21 years. Moving further, in the year 1953, the percentage was almost the same to 1939 in both types.
Furthermore, in 1971, the rented and owned households shared equal proportion, which was 50%. After that, the percentage of rented households decreased continuously from 40% in 1981 to 31% after two decades, which increased by almost 5% in 2011, whereas households in owned accommodation increased from 60% in 1981 to 69% in 2001, which decreased to 65% in following decade.
