The bar chart illustrates the proportion of employee in six different types of career in american between 2003 and 2013.
It is clear that there were increases in the percentage of people working in education training, the hotel industry, the building industry and self-employed whereas the opposite was true for the medical and business medical related jobs. Additionally, the unemployment rate dropped significantly in this time.
In 2003, approximately 8%, 4% and 10% of american adults worked in education training, the hotel and building industries, respectively. The figures for these fields all rose to about 20% over a decade. Meanwhile, the number of people in working age who run their own business witnessed the largest rise, almost tripled, from roughly 10% in 2003 to just over 30% in 2013.
In 2013, nearly 30% of the labour force in the US involved in business fields after which reached the highest point in 2003, around 47%. Similarly, the rate of staff in the medical industry accounted for one-five of the total of the adult in the United States in 2003 and dropped by half over the following ten years.
