The pie charts compare the average percentages in typical meals of three types of nutrients which can cause health problems if eaten a lot. Overall, what stands out from the charts is that the dinner made up a bulk proportion of both sodium and saturated fat nutrients, while added sugar was mostly used in snacks.
Looking at the details, as regards sodium, 43% of sodium was consumed in the dinner, and the figure followed by lunch with almost a third. The figures for breakfast and snacks together stood at only 28%, which were lower than the proportion of lunch. The situation was similar in saturated fats, dinner was the biggest part of the consumption of saturated fats with 37% and followed by lunch with just over a quarter. The figure for snacks was just under a fifth and 5% more than the usage in the breakfast.
By contrast, people used added sugar mostly in snacks with 42%, which was equal to the total amount of consumption in both lunch and dinner, 23% and 19% respectively. Added sugar was not a popular type of nutrient in breakfast, with 16%.
