Overall, the clothing accounted for the biggest part in the 1958 chart, while the highest expenditure was spent on the housing in 2008. In the 1958 – 2008 period, there was an increasing trend of expense on both the luxury goods, food and clothing.
From 1958 to 2008, it is clear that residents witnessed a rapid decreasing trend of the entertainment sectors from 32% to only 12%. In the same period, the figures of two smaller categories, the entertainment and travel/transport also decreased from 18% and 13% to 16% and 6%, respectively.
Nevertheless, the proportion of the budget which people spent on the housing and luxury goods had a significant growth from 22% and 7% in 1958 to 32% and 17% in 2008, respectively.
