The bar charts illustrate the percentage of Australians, divided by gender and age groups, who watch two types of TV shows (reality shows and game shows).
Overall, those over 45 seem to watch the most TV, regardless of the genre. Australian women appear to enjoy reality TV the most, while Australian men have more of an interest in game shows.
With regards to reality shows, only about 35% of men watch them when compared to around 70% of women. About half of those in their teens and early adult age watch reality TV. This figure gradually rises as the people get older, hitting 60% in people in their mid-30s, and finally peaking at a less than 70% in those older 45.
On the other hand, just a little over 60% of men watch game shows when compared to women, which falls just a little under 60%. The figure for teens and young adults watching game shows remains relatively the same as those watching reality TV, at about 50%. However, this drops around 10% in those aged 25 to 34 and 35 to 44, before rising dramatically to about 69% in people 45 and older.
