The given diagram illustrates the electricity production using geothermal energy in a geothermal power plant.
Overall, geothermal energy makes use of the hot rocks which is located 4.5km underground. A geothermal power plant harnesses the electricity by using the steam arising from the hot water to rotate the turbines.
Two large bore holes more than 4.5 kilometres are made into ground, one for the injection well where cold water is pumped down which passes through the hot rocks in geothermal zone. The cold water ater heats up while passing through this zone and the hot water is pumped up into the prodution well which eventually reaches the condenser.
The condenser now holds the hot water, steam arising from the hot water powers the turbine. The turbine is coupled with the generator , with the rotation of the turbines, electricity is produced in the generator, then it is either stored or transported to other power stations or homes for usage.
