Overall, it is clear that the majority of people use the car as the main means of transport and, moreover, they do this mostly in order to commute to work.
Looking at the pie chart, it can be observed that the number of residents who use the car (45%) exceeds the numbers of those who choose to travel by the other means of transport given. The second most preferred means of transport is LRT, where the passengers account for 35% of the Edmonton residents. The figure for people who travel by taxi or bus comes in sharp contrast with the aforementioned ones, at only 10%.
In terms of the reasons why people living in Edmonton prefer the car to the other means of transport, the highest figure is that for commuting, at 55%. 45% of the residents use the car for business purposes an slightly fewer people (40%) drive their children to school. People travelling by car for shopping or leisure activities purposes comprise a mere 15% of the total number of residents.
