The first chart below shows how energy is used in an average Australian household. The second chart shows the greenhouse gas emissions which result from this energy use.

The initial pie chart illustrates the percentage of energy utilized in a usually Australian home while the later chart represents the various ways in which the generated energy is emitted in form of greenhouse gas.

Overall, energy used in form of heat including water heating tremendously outnumbered other means of energy generation. Similarly, energy released from other household appliances in Australia demonstrated a significant increase whereas energy produced from cooling is almost equal to that evaporated.

In terms of energy consumption, heating alone occupies 42% with boiling water being the second highest (30%). Other appliances scored 15% with use of fridges and freezers having 7%. The least is cooling (2%) and lighting (4%). In contrast, home appliances took the lead in gas emission having a considerable increase (28%). Lighting and cooling followed a similar trend as in the first chart (3% and 8% respectively).
