The line chart delineates the rate of Asian individuals living in cities in different countries in the period from 1970 to 2020 and projections for 2030 and 2040.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is obvious that inhabitants living in urban areas have had a tendency to increase, meanwhile, the figure for Malaysians has been higher than other countries.
As is presented in the chart, we can see that the percentage of people in Indonesia residing in cities stood at 15%, ranking last until the year 2000, after which, this data witnessed a substantial growth of 35% this year and is predicted to be doubled in the next 20 years. A similar trend was noticed in the proportion of Thai citizens living in cities. It jumped slightly from just below 20% to 30% and is estimated to go up noticeably to 45% in the year 2040.
AAs for the levels of individuals living in metropolitan areas in the Philippines, we can also see that it increased fluctuated from 30% to 45% in 2020, and projections to 55% over the period of 20 years. Turning to Malaysia, which registered a higher portion than the rest countries, the data jumped dramatically to 75% and will be nearly 90% in 2040.
