An emission of carbon dioxide per person in four different countries during 40 years, from 1967 to 2007 is presented in the line chart.
Initially, around 11 metric tonnes per person in the United Kingdom produce carbon dioxide in 1967, while the number of Sweden was 2 points below the former one. However, after 40 years the one of the United Kingdom showed a dramatic decline to 9 metric tonnes, but the other country (Sweden) had a slight rise from 9 to 11 metric tonnes before continue to fall sharply, with 5 metric tonnes.
On the other hand, in 1967 the average of those in Italy stood at around 5 metric tonnes when the one of Portugal had 5 points bellow the former. Furthermore, at the half of the period, both countries rose sharply to approximately 7 and 3 metric tonnes, and not slowing down until the final quarter of the year. Although, those showing a significant increase, the proportion of carbon dioxide in the United Kingdom was by far the highest used.
Overall, the average of carbon dioxide emissions per person in the United Kingdom and Sweden showed a dramatic fall, while the other two countries increase during this period. However, the one of those in the United Kingdom was the highest proportion.
