The given line graph compares the rate of emission of carbon dioxide released per person measured in Metric tonnes in four countries (the United kingdom, Sweden, Italy and Portugal) over a period of 40 years from 1967 to 2007.
Overall, it can be seen that the maximum amount of carbon dioxide is emitted in the United kingdom as compared to Italy and Portugal, where a steady increase can be witnessed in later years. However, Sweden observed a sharp fall in emission rate after attaining its peak value.
Getting back to details, more than 10 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide was released by a person in United Kingdom in 1967. After that it observed a steady decline by nearly 2 metric tonnes. On the other hand, in Sweden almost 8.5 metric tonnes emerged out in 1967 that later rose to its peak value of 11 metric tonnes in 1977.But in later years, it plummeted to half of its highest value approaching to just 5 on the measuring scale in 2007.
Almost 5 metric tonnes of gas released in Italy as against only 1 metric tonnes in Portugal in 1967. Thereafter, both marked a dramatic rise reaching to peak values nearly 7 and 5 metric tonnes in 1997. After which, both maintained a constant behaviour, with Italy remained higher by 2 metric tonnes in comparison to Portugal.
