The graph below shows the percentage of 18 25 year olds in the Universities in four different countries

The line graph illustrates the percent of 18-25-year-olds enrolled in tertiary education programs in four countries namely Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Phillippines from 1961 to 2011. In 1961, the proportion of 18-25 years Thais enrolled in university was 25 percent and it was followed by Singapore at 15 percent. By contrast, the percentage studying at universities in the Phillippines and Malaysia was only 7 and 2 percent respectively. From 1961 to 1991, there was a slight decrease in the proportion of Thailand studying at universities, while the proportion increased slightly to around 15 percent for both Malaysia and Phillippines. In Singapore also the proportion rose but with fluctuations and in 1991, about 35 percent of 18-25-year-olds were enrolled in universities. Secondly, over the last two decades from 1991 to 2011, the proportion of Singaporean , Pilipino, and Thai was going up, whereas the figure in Malaysia remained unchanged. In 2011, the percentage stood at around 40 percent each in Singapore and Thailand, while the figure for Phillippines and Malaysia were considerably lower at 15 and 10 percent respectively.

overall, it can be seen that Singapore had the highest proportion of 18-25-year-olds studying at universities for a majority of a given time period. Also, there was an increase in the proportion for opting higher education in all the given countries.
