The graphs below show the numbers of male and female workers in 1975 and 1995 in several employment sectors of the Republic of Freedonia.
The bar graphs illustrates how many men and women worked in six different sectors in the Republic of Freedonia between 1975 and 1995.
It is clear that in 1975 all six employment sectors are dominated by men. Some significant changes could be seen in three out of six sectors in the following two decades.
In 1975, 250,000 women worked in communications compared to 300,000 of men and there were total 500,000 female and 700,000 male workers in retail sale. However, In 1995, the number of female communication and wholesale and retail trade employees increased significantly to 600,000 and 800,000 respectively, but the figures for male workers in the two sectors hardly changed. Similarly, female bankers are closing the gap with a three-fold growth in employment, making the numbers of employees in finance fairly equal in gender terms.
Some striking changes are not seen in the remaining sectors. Men were still overrepresented in contrast to women in manufacturing and public sector (non-defence) with the respective gender employment inequalities of 400,000 and 200,000 workers in both 1975 and 1995. The same goes for the public sector (defence) where there were still 200,000 more men workers than their counterparts of the opposite sex in 1995.
