The maps illustrate some changes that were made in the village Stokeford between the years 1930 and 2010.
It is noticeable that three main modifications took place during the aforementioned time period in the village’s infrastructure. These included the addition of a plethora of houses, the construction of a retirement home and the renovation of the primary school.
Looking at the changes in more detail, we can see that in 1930 there was a farmland in the south side of the village, between the River Stoke and the main road, as well as in the eastern part. By contrast, in 2010, these two farmlands have been replaced by houses which were built at either side of the main road in the south and the centre of the village. In addition, there were built two roads in the north-east side of the village, each of whom is surrounded by new houses.
The two maps also show that changes were made related to village’s facilities. In 2007, there was no retirement home and the primary school was consisted of one main building. However, by 2010, a new retirement home was built in the eastern side of the village instead of a large house and some gardens that were located in this side in the past. Also, two buildings were added in the primary school. It is clear that the bridge in the northern side and the post office in the west remained unchanged, but in 2010 there were no shops in the village any more.
