Overall, it is clear that salmon lives under both the fresh water and sea water. It passes through mainly Many stages 'fry', 'smolt' etcetera.
In the first phase of life cycle adult salmon spawns egg while living upper river when water is slow moving. The spawns rests in the cover of reeds and small stones for 5-6 months, after that the egg hatches into 'fry' which are 3-8 cm in length. These 'fry' lives lower fast flowing river or estuary for period of 4 years.
Moving further, in four years younger salmon grows up to 12-15 cm in size, they are now called smolt. In following phase, smolt migrated into open sea lives under sea for roughly 5 years approximately. Eventually, during their life in the sea they grow in length from 70 to 76 cm. The life cycle of salmon is going on and they swims back to their birthplace to lay it's eggs.
