The pie charts below show the average household expenditure in Japan and Malaysia in the year 2010
The pie charts reveal statistics about the proportion of money spent on various categories by each family in Japan and Malaysia, in 2010.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is evident that expenses for accommodation accounted for the largest percentage in Malaysia, whereas that figure for Japan was reported by the transport sector. Moreover, people in these two countries paid the least for health care.
The rate of expenditure varied for most categories. Housing expenses accounted relatively high proportion in both Malaysia and Japan, with 34% and 21%, respectively. The highest average household expenditure in Japan was on other goods and services at 29%, compared to 26% in Malaysia. The percentage of money that a Japanese family paid for transport followed closely at 20%, doubled that of Malaysia.
Turning to other segments, Japan’s fraction of budget used for food was 24%, which was slightly lower than that figure for the remaining country, at 27%. The former claimed the smallest spending on health care with just 6%; however, it was still twice as high as the number for the latter.
