The pie charts represent an information on mean costs of households in 2010 for Japan and Malaysia. According to the legend, five main types of expenditures are presented.
Overall, it is clearly seen that expenditures on other goods and services were the most significant in the case of Japan (around 30%), while for Malaysia housing accounted for the biggest part of total costs (slightly over one third). Regarding the least noticeable category of expenditures, health care shared only 6% for Japan and 3% for Malaysia. The rest of costs types were distributed inequally in these two countries. For Japanese, food was in the second place in terms of share of costs in total budget (just under one fourth); two final categories - health care and transport - reached one fifth of all costs each. On the other hand, food and other goods and services expenses were in the second and third places in Malasia with 27% and 26%, respectively. Finally, 10% of Malaysians money were in 2010 spent on the transport.
Taking everything into consideration, in 2010 shares of expenses on five general categories were different in Japan and Malaysia with various top-expenditure areas. Nevertheless, the least money in both countries was spent on the health care.
