Overall, the total electricity units produced in 2000 were more higher than that in 1980 in both countries. Moreover, there were significant rises in the uses of coal in Australia and nuclear power in France in term of producing electricity throughout the period.
In 1980, coal was the main source of electricity production in Australia, which accounted for half the total amount. In contrast, Natural gas along with Coal were mostly used to generate electricity in France , with the number of 25 in term of units for each. While there was no sign of using nuclear power in electricity production in Australia in the whole period, the figure for this fuel source in France was 15 units in the year 1980
The amount of electricity units produced by coal increased to 130 units in Australia, only 4 units higher than that of nuclear power in France. while the figure for Hydro power in the former country rose by 16 units from the initial point of 20 units, that of the latter country slightly decreased to 2 units in 2000. Moreover, Coal and Oil each accounted for 2 units in Australia and 25 units in France.
