The table indicates how many average miles that English people travelled by using different sorts of transport in the year 1985-2000.

The year 1985 witnessed an outstanding number of miles in travelling by car which totaled 3199 miles. This figure rose to reach 4806 miles in 2000, presenting the longest distance among eight given categories of transport. Likewise, people travelled more by train, long distance bus and taxi. Other means of transport were similar in terms of increase with a growth of 85 miles in 2000.
