The line graph compares the levels of CO emissions in four major cities from April to August 2016.
There was a dramatic fall in emissions in both New York and London. New York's emissions dropped enormously from a high level of 100 metric tons in April to the lowest level of all four cities (approximately 5 tons) in August. Although there was a similar marked fall in emissions in London between April and June, from nearly 100 tons to just under 25 tons, London's CO emissions subsequently rose slightly.
In contrast, Sydney and Tokyo showed a relatively steady decline in emission over the four-month period. Looking at Sydney, CO emissions remained stable at around 65 tons from April to June, but they fell sharply over the rest of the period, finishing at about 40 tons. By comparison, Tokyo's emissions fell from 45 tons to 25 tons.
Overall, CO emissions decreased a great deal in all four cities.
