Writing Task 2 (an essay)
Some people are convinced that mature age employees are beneficial to a company. Others think that younger employees contribute more and hence are more beneficial to a company. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.
What should be the proper age of an employee? is the highly debatable issue in society. Different people have different options, some opine that mature age employees are beneficial to a company while others opine that younger employees contribute more towards the growth of the company and that's why they are beneficial to a company. In this essay, both the views will be critiqued before reaching a reasoned conclusion.
First and the most important argument in favour of older employees is that they are equipped with years of experience so less training is required which saves time and expenditure which company going to do on training of new employees. Secondly, employees retention rate is very high as in this age they would not like to change their jobs and not ready to adjust in new environments. These employees are capable of doing the job under stress as they have already had a lot of experience of dealing with stress management.
Older employees have great communication skills, they have great bonding with colleagues and seniors so less chances of inter personal conflicts in organisation. Mature employees know their workplace environment since very long so they know about the politics and know how to convey their ideas effectively and thoughtfully. Not only that, they have a good leadership skill. They can lead, manage and utilize the staff effectively and efficiently which increase the productive rate and ultimate benefit to organisation. However, there are also some limitations of hiring the matured staff which cannot be averted. One of the biggest disadvantages of hiring a more mature employee in this day and age is that they are less likely to embrace all modern technology. Also, they are mostly occupying at higher position, so they likely to command a higher salary as compared to younger generation.
On the other hand, younger employees are more energetic and vibrant at work and work for longer hours if needed for the benefit of a company. The main argument in favour of younger employees is that they are equipped with knowledge and experience of latest technologies, they know how to do smart work using technology complete the work in less and even needed less human efforts which ultimately benefits the organisation. Since it is a first job, their eagerness and enthusiasm will help the employers to expect much dedication performance. Also, young generation develop positive attitude towards work. They build healthy relations with the team to understand about his/ her first nature of job.
Moreover, they need some experience so they are ready to accept the job in low salary than matured employees. The biggest drawback of hiring young generation is that they are not clear with their future goals. They join for a company and once they find any another opportunity they will switch to other companies, this will be a huge loss to the organisation.
After throwing lights on both views, I came to the conclusion that both age group of employees are equally important for the overall growth and development of the organisation as company can't survive only on experience or on technology they need both.
