Dear Sir,
I am writing to inform you that I am unable to return the two books that I have borrowed last month from the library. The last day to return these books is tomorrow, unfortunately I need to leave the city immediately to visit my aunt in India. I would be grateful if you could either extend the due date of returning these books or excuse me on humanitarian grounds.
The reason for this request is that my aunt is seriously ill as she has been diagnosed with a chronic disease. Since I was not aware of this situation, my visit to India is unplanned. Hence, I have booked my tickets on priority for the next flight. In addition, I also requested my best friend to assist me in dropping off the books to the library but we were unable to coordinate in such a short notice. Due to the above reasons, I am not able to fulfill the requirements of returning the books on time.
Lastly, I will update you once am back and would personally come over to speak to the supervisor with regards to my account. If you may want to check my records, I have been using this library for past few years and have always returned library books in time. Therefore, I seek your kind assistance to excuse me for this round.
Appreciate your swift response.
Yours faithfully,
Nur Amirah
