University should require every graduation students to take public speaking courses. Give examples and details to support your answer.
Yesterday at my Russian class at the university the professor said that the ability to speak coherently and logically is one of the important skills required by employees. She also promotes the idea to make public speaking courses as required for all graduate students. In my personal opinion, this is a good idea and I support it, because I believe that students must present their ideas and thoughts via words properly.
First of all, such courses will bring a lot of advantages for students as future workers. When they have a job interview, they will make a greater impression on their possible employees. When a person uses right words, synonyms, build sentences correctly, it always attracts other people. This way, students can increase their chances to find a well-paid job by showing these skills.
Moreover, during their education graduate students are required to present the results of their research publically. As my professor says to make a good talk in front of big audience is the art. In the beginning of my education, every time I had a talk, I was very nervous and could hardly stand. I did not know where put my hands, which pose was better and other aspects which are important for being a good speaker. In their turn, such public speaking courses would be a good practice for students to get a feedback on their talks and to know how to have a talk more properly.
But even if a student does not intent to participate in conferences or to have a job which requires having a talk, I still think that the courses will be useful. First of all, they will raise the general level of education, and students may use oral skills to make an impression on other people in their everyday life. Students will be more confident when they talk. For example, I was a shy person at my first university year, because my vocabulary was quite limited, but public speaking helped me to get this confidence.
To sum up, based on the arguments I provided in my essay, I think that such courses are necessary for graduate students, that’s why universities should think about including them into their education syllabuses.
