What's more, he often encouraged the execution of people just for amusement. These points overshadow the claims made in the reading - he was a gifted with strong judgment. Thus, the text and the recording offer two contrasting views about the judgmental abilities of Claudius.
Finally, the professor also denies the reading that Claudius has a lot of wisdom. While the text states that he offered slaves many opportunities in politics to grow, the professor refutes this statement and claims that these slaves are mostly corrupt as they accepted bribes. The professor also states that Claudius's last wife has killed him by using poison in the mushroom. Furthermore, his son was a terrible ruler, the worst leader and must not be considered to be made as an heir according to the lecture. These statements contradict the ideas made in the reading that Claudius should be praised as he encouraged women and slaves.
