Little Ice Age
The reading passage propose for number of feasible causes of the Little Ice Age during the time between 1350 to 1900 C.E. Therefore, the professor indicates that scientists had already got some new information about it, which could real account the Little Ice Age and different with the view in reading.
Firstly, reading passge raise the theory of the change in ocean currents represented by Gulf Stream which due to the cold water from melting of glaciers. However, the professsor believes the change of Gulf stream will only affected in the Europe and America. Infact, cooling effect also happened in other areas, such as Newzeland and South Africa. It can't explain this phenomenon.
Secondly, reading passage also consider the reason of the dust and sulfur gas (From the volcanic eruption) had stuff for the atomosphere, which block the sunlight and decrease the temperatures. In the lisenning, professor admits the authenticity of event of vocalnic eruption. But, actually, the dust and sulfur gas were not enough for block the sunlight, because it will also produce the visal effect, such as the colorful sunsight or the green or brown snow, but there was not any report during the the Little Ice Age. So, the dusts are simply not strength enough.
Lastly, reading marterial show the reason of the ascent of forest area had remove the carbon dioxide and cooling the climate. Adversly, professor figures out that there was not enough time, because the human population growth quickly, which means the forest will cut down again in small period to clear field for the agriculture. As a result, the forest will not exist for long peirod that to absorbed the CO2. It was not enough long-term global cooling for the climate.
