Both reading and lecture are about Chevalier de Seingalt luxury life. Reading explains some critics having doubt on his wealthy life and provides three reason. However, the lecture disputed the arguments made in reading.
First, according to reading Chevalier claims that while he lived in Switzerland, he was very rich and spent lot of many at6 parties and gambling but some critics argue that why he had to borrow some money from merchant if he was had enough wealth. In contrast, lecture tends to say that no doubt Chevalier was rich but actually he had to wait till then own money achieved and that why got help from merchant.
Second, reading asserts that Chevalier discussed in his writing that he had met famous writer Voltaire. Critics complain that the conversation between them, which was written by Chevalier was not accurate because it was written many years after the incident. Inversely, Professor suggests that Chevalier used to write little but every night.
Finally, article contends that Chevalier explained that he offered bribe to jailers and escaped from jail by using metal road to make hole in ceiling and climbing through the roof. On the other hand, lecture refutes this points by saying that there are many prisoner which have strong connection with politics and have wealther friends. If it was possible then why should not tried yet?
