The reading passage and lecture are both discussing about reading less literature ,novels and poems however the lecturer in casting doubt on this opinion in different ways. The lecturer is telling the reasons why the new culture reads less because they have different other ways to inspire and to be intellectually stimulated.
First, the lecturer thinks that books and novels are not the only way that stimulate our brain and she states that since culture has been changed movies and songs are used instead. The reading states that literature encourages us to exercise our imaginations, empathize with others, and expand our understanding of language.
Moreover, the lecturer states that it is not the writer's or the author's fault, since the author has less money to product books.
On the other hand the reading passage states that our literature today are usually superficial poorly written, and intellectually undemanding.
Furthermore, she states that authors have less support nowadays. Modern literature is more difficult to understand.This refutes the idea of writer which demonstrates there are many talented writers today, but they lack an audience.
