TPO-15 - Integrated Writing Task
The main idea of both the reading and the talk is about the numerous ways for stopping the effect of cane toad to other animals in Australia rather than insects. In the text, the author proposes some viable methods for this purpose. The lecturer challenges all the measurements that mentioned in the reading. She is of the opinion that none of these methods is effective.
Firstly, the reading passage brings up the idea that building a national fence is very practical methods for prevention of cane toad to other parts that they have not any insects. On the other hand, the lecturer argues that although the fence could prevent for adult cane toad, this approach is not convenient for young cane toad and eggs as well as. Because they can use water stream to moving to other side of the fence and they will spread quickly. Thus, this approach is not practical.
In addition, the author of the reading holds the view that by using a plethora of volunteers, it is possible to capture and destroy cane toads. The lecturer, conversely, believes that there are plenty of inexperienced volunteers that they will affect adversely. Because the cane toad is vey similar to other animals, namely frogs, so the might capture and destroy them rather than toad cane. Therefore, this approach is very irrational for reaching this aim.
Eventually, the author of the reading thinks that by using kind of disease-causing virus that developed by researcher, the population of toad cane will be controlled. The lecture, on the other hand, states that these kind of virus has numerous adverse effects on other animals and also environment. Furthermore, she mentions that because some of researchers bring toad cane to other continents so this is possible that this virus affect to other countries' animal. In addition, these animals are native to other countries so it might has bad impact on that countries' ecology.
