The article states that let it burn policy cause large scale damage which provides three examples of support. however, the professor explains that although it is a natural disaster, it creates new opportunities for animals and plants and refutes each of the reading examples.
First, The author claims that the vegetations and plants had been scorched after the fire died out. The professor refutes this point by saying that new small plants grew instead of scorched plants. this is due to the open and unshaded area that was created after the fire died out. also, the seeds of plants, that need extreme heat were able to grow.
Second, the article posits that wildlife like deer and elk were forced to leave their habitats and it is almost impossible to return to it due to the disruption of the food chain. however, the professor indicates that the wildlife would recover after the fire and new opportunities for small animals like rabbits and rats will rise. As the professor explains, the small plants would attract these small animals, and in return, preditors would return to these habitats as well.
Third, the reading claims that the tourist attraction of the park would decrease. the professor opposes this idea by explaining that the fire in the Yellowstone park does not happen every year and this phenomenon is unusual. The combination of low rain and hight winds does not happen every year so this kind of fire is rare. also, the tourists came back to the park the year after.

- The main idea of both the reading and the lecture is about Robert Peary’s claim. The reading states that he reached the North Pole and presents three reasons. However, the professor asserts that this evidence is actually very uncertain. She refutes each 70
