The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about genetically modified trees. The reading passage provides three reasons about advantages of these tress. On the other hand, the professor rejects whatever mentioned in the passage.
First, the reading passage discusses that genetically modified trees are more likely to survive during hard conditions. Nevertheless, the professor refutes this point and states that genetically modified trees are resistance to a particular condition. The professor adds that genetically modified trees have the same response to changing of conditions because all of them are uniform in terms of physical characteristics and they are more likely to die.
Second, the reading passage discusses that genetically modified trees bring economic benefits. On the other hand, the professor rejects this point and states that genetically modified trees cost more than usual trees because we must pay the company whenever we need to cultivate them.
Eventually, the reading passage discusses that genetically modified trees can prevent destroying of forests. But, the professor is against this point and states that genetically modified trees cause more damage for environment. The professor adds that genetically modified trees growth among natural tress and they compete for nutrients and crowed out natural trees. Also, genetically modified trees are more aggressive than natural trees.
All in all, the reading passage talks about the advantages of genetically modified trees and provides three reasons. On the other hand, the professor thinks that none of these is reasonable.
