TPO 29
The reading and the listening passages have a debate on migration hypothesis of dinosaures. The writer puts forward 3 main hypotheses, which refuted by the following speaker.
First, The writer suggests that the edmontosaurs needed to migration for finding foods, because in the winter, there were not plants at North Slope, While the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to her, the weather condition at 100 million years ago was warmer and 24 hour a day of sunshine caused that plant growth properly, As a result, with being available food sources in winter, there was not no need to migration.
The second preposition offered by writer was that the Edmontosaurus should live in herds for becoming able to immigrate and there are some evidences for supporting this point. However, the speaker casts doubt on this assumption by saying that living in the herd is not related to migration. It may be because of other benefits such as surviving from predators. In addition some elk that live in the herd do not migrate.
Lastly, the writer proposes that edmonosaurs had enough physically power for migrating through harsh situations. On the other hand, the speaker holds an opposite view. She explains that if they were powerful, they could resist in cold North conditions.
