The reading and the listening materials have a debate on advantages of "cloud seeding" technique to prevent of damage of hail for crops and farmlands. The writer puts forward 3 main hypotheses which are refuted by following speaker.
First, the writer suggests that scientific tests have been performed on cloud seeding method and its positive effect on reducing the damage of hail has been proofed. While, the speaker views this issue from opposite angle. According to her, the laboratory condition can not be relied and applay for real situation and silver iodide can hinder any percipitation such as rain, snow, etc. and may result drought. As a result, this point can not be considerable.
The second item offered by the writer is that some events from other part of world like Asia have shown the effectiveness of this method. However, the speaker casts doubt on this assumption by say ing that the results of applying the above technique for urban area in Asia may be not similar to the unplouted areas and farming lands in US. The ploution has critical role in this method.
Lastly, the writer proposes local studies in US show that cloud seeding has reduced damages on farming lands in comparison to the past year. On contrary, the speaker holds an opposite view. She claims that diminishment of hail damages may be related to natural processing around that area and not be due to using cloud seeding.
