The lecture and reading both are discussed about medical information should be stored at electronic databases rather than on paper. While reading are discussed about advantage of using electronic database and provide three advantage for support that topic. However, lecture refutes each of the reading point and talk disfavor use of electronic database.
Firstly, the reading claims it help to reduce costing of storing and transferring medical records. Furthermore it help to access all database in short time that is stored at virtually. However, the lecture refutes this point by saying that all those doctors are used electronic computerized record but they have still paper based report to them as a backup. The lecture are not think that it will going to reduce the costing.
In addition, the reading make the argument that it help to prevent medical related errors. Some doctors handwriting very poor it create error that make serious consequences. If electronic database available that help to reduce human related error. The lecture counter this point by saying that doctors still used pen and paper when they examining, Stuff of doctor are update the electronic database it possible stuff misunderstood or miss read the document.
Finally, the author states that electronic records are helpful to medical research because large amount of data available in electronic records, if researcher want data they can easly filter out needed information.
