Essay topics:

In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiring companies to offer their employees the option of working a four-day workweek for four-fifths (80 percent)of their normal pay would benefit the economy as a whole as well as the individual companies and the employees who decided to take the option.

The shortened workweek would increase company profits because employees would feel more rested and alert, and as a result, they would make fewer costly errors in their work. Hiring morestaff to ensure that the same amount of work would be accomplished would not result in additional payroll costs because four-day employees would only be paid 80 percent of the normal rate. In the end, companies would have fewer overworked and error-prone employees for the same money, which would increase company profits. For the country as a whole, one of the primary benefits of offering this option to employees is that it would reduce unemployment rates. If many full-time employees started working fewer hours, some of their workload would have to be shifted to others. Thus, for every four employees who went on an 80 percent week, a new employee could be hired at the 80 percent rate.

Finally, the option of a four-day workweek would be better for individual employees. Employees who could afford a lower salary in exchange for more free time could improve the quality of their lives by spending the extra time with their families, pursuing private interests, or enjoying leisure activities.

In the article, the writer suggests that the company should hire more four days per week worker than five days per week workers. The writer provides information that as the four-day workers won't mind by paying less and it is beneficial for the company. As the four-day workers get the rest more the writer believes that they would make fewer errors. The writer also believed that the company uses them by making them do the same amount of work by only paying 80 percent of the payment. But the orator argues that by recruiting more for day workers the reputation of a company could be destroyed, as they have to hire more employee. The orator also argues that by recruiting more four day workers are not beneficial for the company as the company train more employee and provide more health policy to all of them, thus that could be a loss for the company.
The orator also argued that it is a quixotic idea by thinking for day workers could compete five-day workers as in less payment the workers have to overtime to complete the work. The writer also said that there would be more employment by recruiting more four day workers, as workload distributed to other workers and company forced to hire more workers for remaining works. The orator provides his argument that by recruiting more four-day workers company need to expand their space and have to provide more computers and that could be the loss for the company. The orator also argued that as the four-day workers have more time they would like to practice avocation for the reaming week.
The writer believed that four-day workers use their money better as they have much more quality time to spend with their family and towards their personal interest. The orator argued that as the four days workers paid less they have less money to spend and they have less stability in their job. The orator also argued that the four-day workers lose their job more quickly than five-day workers in the economic recession and in case of promotion, as five-day workers get quicker promotion as they work more than four-day workers.
