Both the reading and the lecture talk about tuna farming in ocean cages. the passage gives three points regarding problems of the tuna beng farmed. However, the lecturer thinks the other way. He mentions that there are promising solutions for this issue as following.
First of all, both the text and the professor point out capturing myriads of young tuna fishes from the wild to farm them and because female ones do not lay egg when captured, farmers have to take more young tuna fshes leading to decrease in the population of the wild tunas. On the other hand, the professor gives information that this will not take so long. Accordingly, scientists have found certian injection hormone which help the female tuna to lay eggs under circumstances of captivated farming. Hence, in this way the first problem is solved without harming the tunas population.
Second of all, both the author and the listening cite the cost of feeding tuna fishes captured. The passage asserts it is more costly because a single tuna eats 70 kilograms of fish every day making it expensive for farmers. Nevertheless, the listening names plants having high protein and nutrients to use for these tunas. As a result, the second issue can be eliminated.
Third, both the writer and the lecturer put forth tunas become infested with parasites. The text explains that parasite infestations weak the tunas and make their growth slow. The author rejects the idea in south Australia due to the deacrese of blood flow in deep waters. According to the professor, the parasites can no survive under such conditions. Therefore, the last criticism with regard to tuna farming in captivated form is refuted.
